Solid boot, but wide is still a little narrow
So I've worn the Airpower XR200's for 2 years and they work great for me. I also have a pair of Protectors, which I wear in the snow or if I'm wearing spikes. Both boots have a similar fit. I bought these hoping for a lighter, cooler boot for the summer. They are quite solid for a light boot and well made. My only complaint is that the wide version is still a tad narrow for my foot. With thin socks they work, though I hope they pack out a little more. The fit is completely different from the boots I had mentioned above. Not bad, just different. I wish the actual width of the toe box were published like is done with ski boots. Good boot, but if you have a wide foot may not work for you.

This boot is an outstanding boot for dynamic law enforcement or military operations. The rubber toe cap keeps the toe from being torn up on concrete or gravel when moving to and shooting fro… This boot is an outstanding boot for dynamic law enforcement or military operations. The rubber toe cap keeps the toe from being torn up on concrete or gravel when moving to and shooting from a kneeling or prone position, and the weight and ankle height is appropriate for its intended use. The insoles are comfortable and wearing them all day on the range on concrete or conducting missions is easy to do. I have wide, flat feet, and ordered an 11W (My normal size, I have other pairs of HAIX boots and have used them for about 15 years). It took about 12 wearings to break them in (They were tight around the arches to start), but as I continue to wear them, they continue to be more comfortable. The boots do not retain heat, and the soles provide excellent traction on wet surfaces. I have worn the Black Eagle Patrol boots (leather, non zipper) as well as the legacy GSG 9 boot HAIX used to offer. I am happy that this boot is finally available in a non-zipper model, as the zippered models did not support road marching / long distance movement. All in all, this is an excellent boot for tactical operations. I also have and regularly wear the HAIX military HERO boot. The black eagle boot being reviewed is a lighter weight option that is appropriate for shorter duration missions that do not require thicker socks for cushioning or warmth. The HERO boot is AR 670-1 compliant, whereas this boot is not, if that is a factor in your purchasing decision. I have used a variety of military, Salomon, Keen, Addidas (Original GSG-9 boot) boots, and I am happy to recommend this boot to my teammates.
