The quick in and out feature of the laced in front zipper allows you the advantage of a custom fit boot that can also put on in a hurry. Just adjust the lacing for a fit personalized to you. Slip on, zip, and go. Built with an ultra-light composite toe, HAIX Airpower® XR2 boots offer the ultimate in toe protection and comfort with its roomy toe box. It offers chemical and bloodborne pathogen protection, and electrical hazard protection. NFPA certified for emergency medical operations for the EMS responder, the Airpower® XR2 is also ASTM certified for electrical hazards.  What more could you ask for in rescue boots you can also wear in the station? Waterproof and Chemical Protection with CROSSTECH® The HAIX Airpower® XR2 features a CROSSTECH® inner liner which allows your boot to be not only breathable, but durably waterproof. CROSSTECH® also offers the added benefits of chemical and bloodborne pathogen protection. Not only that, the breathable inner liner works together with the HAIX® climate system to keep your footwear dry and comfortable in hot or cold weather or on wet or dry days. No worries when having to work out in the rain or at a messy accident scene, your footwear will keep you protected and comfortable on all fronts. Built in Arch Support The HAIX Airpower® XR2 has much needed arch support built in to every boot. Proper arch support realigns the foot and ankle to their neutral position, helping, in many cases, to restore natural foot function. As a result, it will help alleviate problems in other parts of the body, like your knees and ankles. The cushioned insole offers all day wear comfort, especially when combined with the built in arch support. Slip and Heat Resistant Soles and Quick Drying Insoles The heat resistant soles of the HAIX Airpower® XR2 are extremely slip resistant as well as resistant to oil and fuel. Accident scenes, especially ones that involve vehicle fires, are not an issue as you don’t have to worry about your soles melting on hot asphalt or worry about exposing your soles to fuel and oil leaks. HAIX® soles keep you sure footed so you can focus on doing your job. The insole’s moisture wicking properties guarantee to combat the issue of sweaty feet, especially after a long day on the job. Not only do they help to absorb foot sweat, the antibacterial properties help to fight foot odor and reduce the presence of fungus and bacteria. With comfort cushioning, the separate heel cup aids in keeping your foot in the correct position for foot health. HAIX® insoles and machine washable and quickly air dry so you can get a quick refresh and be back on the job in no time. Sun Reflect Technology and Secura Liner® European craftsmanship is unmistakable when you look at this boot. European leather guarantees your boots will stand the test of time. The added Sun Reflect technology in the leather of these safety boots prevents you boots from heating up on you when you are out in the sun. Your feet will feel the difference since cooler leather on the outside translates to cooler feet on the inside. HAIX®’s patented Secura Liner® feature protects you from the irritation of liner pull out. Your inner liner stays securely in place since it is sealed along with the leather beneath the sole, and is not a “sock” that is glued in under the insole like you see in other boots. No other boot manufacturer offers this unique feature. Nothing worse than having your liner come out of the boot along with your foot. Your questions. Our honest answers.

With the CROSSTECH inner liner, the Airpower XR2 does offer protection from liquids, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens. The boots are tested and certified according to NFPA 1999 standards for biopenetration.
Yes, you can buy replacement parts for the Airpower XR2 such as insoles, laces, and zippers. You can find these items on our website on the accessories page. If you are looking to retread or refurbish your Airpower XR2 boots, check out the HAIX Extended Wear program page.
Yes, your boot fit can be adjusted on the Airpower XR2 by tightening or loosening the laces on either side of the zipper mechanisim. For a slightly more individualized fit, boots can be adjusted with an alternate insole. A blue insole for a narrower fit (thickest), a yellow insole for a wider fit (thinnest). Extra insoles can be purchased on the accessories page.
Yes, the front lacing zipper system of the Airpower XR2 allows the individual user to adjust the fit to their own personal needs, offering more ankle support as needed, or possibly offering a looser fit in the lower leg for larger calves. Boots should be adjusted to your preference when they are received, then just zip in or out from then on. A second adjustment to the lacing may be needed after the boots have gone through their initial break in period.
The Airpower® XR2 and Airpower® R2 are certified to NFPA 1999 for emergency medical operations while the Airpower® XR1 is certified to both NFPA 1999 and NFPA 1977 for Wildland Firefighting. The Airpower® XR2 and Airpower R2 are both 8" in height while the Airpower® XR1 is 9" in height. Both the Airpower® XR1 and XR2 are composite toe with non-metallic puncture plates while the Airpower® R2 has a steel toe and steel puncture plate. The Airpower® R2 differs from the other 2 models in that it has a leather toe that is polishable. Since the Airpower® XR2 and XR1 are so similar, the Airpower® XR1 has a red NFPA 1977 label on the left boot.
The Airpower XR2 runs similar in size to your athletic shoe size, but because of the built in arch support, they do run on the narrow side. The Airpower XR2 comes in medium, wide, and extra wide widths. It is recommended that you order one width larger than your usual width. For example, most people who normally wear a medium, would wear a wide in this boot.

Best Investment I’ve Made In EMS

I bought a $60 pair of boots for EMT school and then another $60 pair about a year and a half later. They were nice and comfortable all that and I just couldn’t see the logic in spending any more than that for something that’s gonna get beat up anyway. But these a worth every penny! My favorite is the convenience. You can’t literally jump into any other pair of boots like you can these. Then of course the comfort is second to none. I’m beyond happy with my purchase. Haix has definitely gained a lifelong customer and I’ve been vouching for these boots to all the crews at my station.

Worth Every $

I've had them for 3-4 months now. Its hard to justify a massive purchase like this but after 4 months, my feet approve. Getting in and out of these boots is a breeze every day and coming out of them is so easy too. Spending long hours in these is a breeze, being on my feet for the entirety of 12s every shift means my feet want to scream at the end of nights but not in these boots. On top of it all, the material has been surviving very well. Boots in the past, the toe cap, and other parts of the boot have had scuffs and tears that show through the leather. We all know how much abuse our boots take especially on the road and I am no exception to that. My boots have held up wonderfully. On top of all of it, there's a convenient repair program to get your boots resoled/redone/fixed for whatever is wrong for a fraction of the cost. I am certainly going to be looking into this program when my boots start to show wear and tear but at the 4 month mark, I can say that they're going to last me a while.

Great boots

Fantastic boots, easy to get on and off they fit my feet in the extra wide and I typically have trouble finding footwear that fits my wide feet, they are also quite comfortable to walk in. Worth the money in my opinion.

5/5

Perfect fit, perfect comfort

I was skeptical of spending this much on a single pair of boots, but they are a perfect fit and are perfectly comfortable. Read the sizing information first! I put them on for the first time and I thought they fit perfectly. Little did I know after a week of wearing them how much BETTER they could fit! The ankle support is excellent, they're easy on and off. In short, a dream.

Worth Every Penny

The XR2s are one of the best boots to complement a 24hr shift. Light weight, comfortable, and breathable are a few of my favourite characteristics. Don’t let the price tag scare you away, it’s an investment. Instead of going through endless pairs of Blundstones , get 1 pair of these and save the break in times !

Worth Every Penny

Two months into my new Haix XR2 boots and I'm and super impressed. Great protection, very durable, and super comfortable. The "set it and forget it" lacing system takes a little bit of adjusting to get it right, but once you have these boots dialed in, just zip em up and they fit perfectly. Can't even tell you how glad I am that I grabbed a pair of these boots. Ordinary EMS boots will just never cut it again and trust me I've owned a bunch of them over the last 5 years and they never hold up. Sure these boots are on the pricey side, but they will last a lifetime. Worth every penny!

Great boots

I love my XR2's, most comfortable boots I have worked in. I do 12 hr shifts and my feet do not hurt at the end of the shift. I am a 20 yr veteran fron the mitary and also work law enforcement, so I have wore many types of boots. Haix have been the best and this is my first pair and will be the only boots I wear from here on out.

Jason H.

5/5

Comfortable

I tried 5 different boots from various brands before settling on these as the best. My search included other well known brands like Danner, Bates, and others. These were definitely the most comfortable AND the best fitting. They have a premium feel and I'm confident they'll last for years, regardless of the abuse I throw at them. Worth every penny so far -- would definitely purchase again.

They squeaked a little bit after the first few wears, but that's to be expected with a new leather boot. I added a little shoe polish and the squeaking went away. It hasn't come back. I've been using these for about a month now and I'm still happy.

Worth Every Penny!

I contemplated buying these boots for over a year! I just couldn’t see myself spending this much for a pair of boots when there is others I could get for less than 100$. Finally I talked with a few people who had some and heard all the good things and decided to make the purchase. The first time I put them on I was hooked! Instant comfort unlike I’ve felt in any other boots in the past. I will definitely be returning for more once these wear out!

Extremely Happy!

I take my footwear very seriously. I'm an actor and play first responder roles. I purchased these boots to fit the roles I play. The style and ease of getting in and out of them are unlike anything out there. Being on set and on my feet for hours at a time can be painful in the wrong shoes. I had met an EMT on set and it turned out we're the same size so I tried his boots on and instantly fell in love. I received my pair a couple of weeks ago and my feet are in heaven. I'm actually excited to wear these. They're great-looking, extremely comfortable, and the quality is outstanding. I couldn't be happier. Whether doing running, walking, or just standing scenes at the end of the day my feet feel wonderful! I would imagine real first responders would love these boots and the ability to get in and out of them quickly makes them highly desirable as well. I look forward to wearing this for years to come. I did purchase the clear polish as well to maintain my pair. Enjoy yours!

Great boots, super comfortable with a quick break in. Only issue is the squeaky new boot leather. Should ship with the Haix leather care included to help minimize the issue.

Best boots ever

I’ve tried many boots throughout the last 20 years in the fire service. I bought the XR2’S in November and discovered an incredible amount of squeak with every step. I contacted Haix and they sent me some polish and it fixed the squeak. These are without a doubt the best, most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. I love them! I will be picking up a pair of the Black Eagle Athletic 2.0 T’w for tac-ops in the very near future. I’ll never buy another brand of work boots again!

5/5

Best boots I've ever found

I'm not an EMT, or police officer. I am a fuel hauler. These are the best boots I've ever owned. When in the loading rack, tend to step in fuel, but these boots never slipped once. They work well in the snow too! I've had mine for about 2.5 years. Soles still in good shape, zipper works like it's supposed to, but laces broke 2 days ago. Just ordered a new pair.

More than EMS /FIRE Boot

Haix under-sells this boot. I am a Police K9 Handler and have purchased many boots over the years, as we all have. Being a K9 Handler, I have found myself climbing fences and through windows, tromping through the mud and uneven terrain of the woods and creeks, crawling up storm drains and in to the muck on the other side. Then in the very same day, I'm be walking up the street to the side of somebody's car, or in to their home. My last boots turned colors after the storm drain, and my feet were soaking wet. I can only imagine the things my feet were exposed to that day. These boots easily handle all of those tasks and protect my feet with so much more comfort. My last pair of boots left me feeling unable to walk by the end of my shift, due to pain in my soles. These boots (AirPower XR2) broke in within a couple shifts and my feet don't hurt anymore at all. Don't be misled by the category of Fire/EMS.. These boots will serve well for any K9 Handler or other Special Services officer!!!!

Like every boot still breaking them in. I'm on a 911 truck and work 12 hours in a very busy system. I enjoy the boots up to this point. True to size. Looks good. When I put them on for the first time there were to adjustments needed with the laces or zipper.

3.5/5

Great Boots but loud

For the money these met all my expectations. They are comfortable and breathable to wear all day long while on shift. The zips make them easy to put on in a hurry. My only complaint is how loud these boots are. Everyone in the station knows when I am walking down the hallway because of it. I have had the boots around a month or so and the noise hasn't gone day and perhaps became louder. If Haix could fix the squeak these would be a 10 out of 10.

Ryan S.

0.5/5

Deafening comfort

These are the best boots I've ever worn. I would love to give them a perfect review...
but every step sounds like I'm walking through a field of mice.
These are unbelievably noisy, squeaky, loud. I thought it would go away as they were worn in, but it keeps getting louder! They're very comfortable but I might not be able to keep wearing them if I can't find some kind of solution.

Mike P.

4/5

Noisy boot

This is definitely the most comfortable station boot I’ve ever had, and far superior to my previous pair I bought from Danner.

My only issue is how noisy these boots are. It’s super annoying and I wish they could fix that.

Bought for hubby

Bought these boots for hubby as a just because gift. Even sprung for the 2 day shipping. He absolutely loves them. They are his new go to work boots. Wears them every night.

5/5

Excellent Factory Work Boot

Found Haix brand a while back and liked the sounds of all the reviews I’d read and seen, so, when it was time to get some new boots for long shifts in a factory with often oil covered concrete floors, I figured I’d give them a chance.

Best choice I’ve made in a while!!!

Traction is as good as you can get in oil. Feels surprisingly light on the foot for an 8in work boot. Arch support and ample midsole leave my feet feeling fresh through 10+ hour shifts. Climate system keeps feet from getting soggy in a non-temperature controlled environment in the southern heat. Zipper makes for a quick and easy on/off experience with the benefit of the exact same fit every time.

After ~60 days of use, XR2 would get 11/10 if it were an option. Thank you!!!

Best Boot I’ve Worn

I’ve had a few different boots over the years and these have been the most comfortable for me. They have also lasted the longest and are easy to shine up when needed. Strong build, supportive, and I can’t stress the comfort enough (I do go with the Wide option). I highly recommend.

Jared G.

5/5

Best Boot Ever Worn

I have worn a lot of different boots over the years as an EMT and never found the right boot for me that had all the features i was looking for. Composite toe, fast donning and doffing, blood born resistance and the ability to shine. I wore these on a transfer right out of the box and i was slightly worried due to I did not break them in before hand, but I was pleasantly surprised that they felt as though I had been wearing them for months. These are the best boots I've ever worn and I will buy these again when i wear these out.

4.5/5

Great Boot!

This is my second pair of boots that I just purchased. My previous pair I had for roughly 10 years. Wearing them for every third day, and rotating in a different pair of haix for when I am on the medic. Only reason I had to replace them was because the sole started coming apart from the toe, and the glue wasn't holding. A little shoe polish helped every once in awhile to make them last longer. I like the boot and high top shoe because of always being out in different weather elements, and keeping my feet dry. The boots are really comfortable for me, but after having them for so many years I did have to replace the inserts, not a big deal. They do run a bit large, about a half size. The boots do have a slight noise when you walk, but goes away once they are broken in. It's hard for me to find boot/shoe sizes because I run small/wide, but they had my size and had it shipped within 2-3 days. I will definitely continue to purchase my work/station footwear from haix.

4/5

Overall good boots

These boots are overall great boots. They aren't too heavy, they are very comfortable ect. The only downfalls to these boots are the laces are a pain to tighten and these boots are terrible on ice. I mean absolutely terrible. They are not the winter series, im aware of that but there should be some traction on ice still. Its almost like i took a piece of abs plastic and stuck it to the bottom of my boots and then step on smooth ice. In the end i do still really like these boots and would buy again but i feel as though these will last me a while.

5/5

Great boots, great service.

I have been using these boots for about a month and they have served me well. My feet have been happy through the long shifts of metro EHS work. The sizing does fit true to foot size if you have measured yourself properly.

Great service with prompt correction of a small order deficiency.

My only thought for improvement is to produce a narrower quick lacing system. I have slim ankles and feet and come quite close to the limits of tightening the laces. Others may have difficulty getting the boots tight enough and would need to abandon the quick lacing component.

Anthony F.

4.5/5

Comfortable boots, terrible zippers

I have worn many of the popular brands (Warringtons, Redbacks, and Redwings) over the years and these are by far the most comfortable. I’ve been wearing these boots for over two years and they have served me well. My only complaint is that the zippers have jammed halfway down multiple times and now one won’t stay up at all.

10 Year repeat customer

I've been wearing my first pair of XR2s for the last 5 years. Unfortunately after this long period of dedicated service the leather that meets the toe cap and the outsole began to separate, after going back and forth with nushoe they advised me that unfortunately the boots were unrepairable and provided me with a discount code. I then placed my order and the boots shipped sooner than expected and are set to arrive within only 3 days of placing my order. I hope this pair will last me even longer and I plan on ordering different styles as well.

Great Choise

I have been looking for a set of duty boots for a while, I kept going back to the XR2. Great choice. Good comfort, kept my feet dry, and a quick break in time. I'm one happy EMT

Great ordering process and great boot

I ordered a new pair of boots and had them within 3 business days. The price was lower than any other distributor. The only negative is the cost of shipping.

Weak Zippers

Boots are awesome. Nicest boots I've ever owned. Only problem the zippers don't seem to stay up with the velcro. Every 10 minutes i have to Re zip both boots. The other day I broke a zipper in half so now I have a zip tie to grab onto. Otherwise awesome boots, just wish the zipper and tongue were better.

Best EMS duty boot ever

Been using these for years and last year my best pair got ruined in the Texas floods. I just got a new pair, and they are better then ever. Feet do not sweat and they are very comfortable after the first two weeks or so. The do have a break in time.

4.5/5

Great boot

Got my boots and have worn them for a rotation and they are really comfortable even without being broken in. It took alittle time getting the laces adjusted so both boots felt the same. I was worried about the zipper being a problem after some of the reviews but mine are smooth and zip up and down easily.

George B Snowden I.

5/5

Foot comfort and protection

From the moment I put them in they were comfortable. With one adjustment to the front zipper it has been amazing. I am an EMT for a busy Hospital based EMS system and on my feet most of the day. I was recommended these boot by my co-workers and I have recommended them to others.

Charles B.

5/5

Great

Only had the boots for a little while but love them already. They are super easy to get in and out of which is great for working EMS. After a 14 hour day my feet come out of the boots dry and not sweaty compared to my old issued magnum boots, and very comfortable. Definitely will buy again if I need to.

1.5/5

Definitely not the integrity I expected

To be so expensive and highly recommended I haven’t had mine much over a year and the soles are separating and stitching failing on back loop color and the leather has cracked very unhappy with the outcome after such short use.

Brandon

5/5

Great boots

They’re still brand new as far as boots go so we will see how they stand the tests of EMS. So far they have been quite impressive. I’m on my feet for most of my shifts and these boots have proven to be quite comfortable given the summer heat and heft of the boot.

The quality of the boot is 10/10 although I was a little disappointed to see a black zip tie that is supposed to be left on the boot. For $300, that put me off but as long they work, I can live with it.

Pretty Good

Boots are truly comfortable. They are well made. Easy to get on and off. Protect my feet. Support my ankle. With some care these will last for years.

I pulled out the insole and replaced with green superfeet for even more comfort. Pair these boots with smart wool socks. It is 102F outside and my feet aren't soaked in sweat and they don't stink.

Only negative is I have is that I've got skinny ankles and cant get the laces tight enough.

Ricky R.

5/5

Awesome boots and customer service to match.

I bought these boots to replace an old pair that was discontinued. The old pair was the first pair of Haix boots I owned and I loved them. They lasted me about five years without major issues. The XR2's, however, started to have issues with the toe cap coming apart and the leather separating from the sole. One day, the zipper pull snapped off in my hand one day while trying to zip the boot up. I contacted customer service at once. Costumer service was very prompt and friendly. The representative asked for a couple pictures, determined it was a warranty issue, and had replacement boots in the works for me within the hour. I could not believe the level of customer service I received from this company. The customer service alone has made me a Haix customer for life.

Curt Lewis J.

4/5

Great boots. Only two things...

After having them for over a year I still think these are hands down the BEST boots I've ever owned. I work for a VERY busy fire department (20,000+ calls for service per year) and run about 15 calls per day in these bad boys and STILL haven't needed to recap the toe or resole them. My only two complaints: 1) the zipper gets caught in the leather under the zipper but trimming this back has solved that issue and Haix will tell you you can do so without voiding warranty (awesome customer service... especially for a $300 pair of boots) and 2) when I go from sitting to standing my pants get caught on the pull tab on the top rear of the boot above the heel. It's a mild inconvenience and I can't exactly trim that off but I have found that wearing pants with an extra half inch in the hem for the most part resolves this, there's just a slight bagginess to my pants then but it's no big deal.

Long and short between the product itself and customer service, these are likely the last pair of boots I will ever buy. Or at the very least the only company I will ever buy station footwear from.

Good boot, some issues

These boots are a solid boot. They are light and functional and very comfortable. I purchased a pair to try in the construction line of work and they are great. That being said I have a few issues with them though.
1. The zipper catching the leather, this seems to be a huge issue that a lot of people are reporting. I don't need to go into detail with this one as its been done already.
2. The heel portion of both boots got very uncomfortable after they were subjected to water and dried. They curved inward and dug at my heels until they bled. This isn't the first boot to do this to me though, I've had many high end boots do this until they are broken in.
And finally the one that actually lowers this boot to a 6 of 10 for me.
3. Waterproof. What is waterproofing? These boots claim to be water resistant and have a water proof inner liner. My socks are damp about 3 hours into my 12 hour shift and wet by the end. That being said, it's not like water is running through the boot but that the liner is continuously damp. I work in snow and mud a lot and these boots aren't cutting the weather.

Great boots

These are best boots that bought. I work 12 hours shift and they very comfortable when wearing.

Very comfortable

These are easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I love the front zip as well as the build quality. The only issue I have found is that the zipper sometimes catches on the leather on the back, but if you simply pull the zipper back up it usually releases easily. I have also found that the straighter the zipper path is (by pointing your toe down) the less chance of catching. Even taking that into consideration these are the best boots I have ever worn.

Second Pair

This is my second pair of these boots, my first pair I had lasted me for a few months before they started to squeak and I did everything I could to get the squeaking to stop, I contacted Customer Service who were more than help by sending me another pair since my first pair were under warranty still. This pair now has given me no problems so far and I hope it stays that way! Best boot I've ever worn! Highly Recommend!

Zipper Problem

Really like the feel of the boots and the toe cap but I'm having the same problem that others have commented about. The zipper is getting stuck on the leather on the back side and will not undo and this is something that needs to be fixed ASAP as the boots are unwearable like this. I have had a new pair of Haix almost every year and this is the first time I have had a problem in 6+ years. I'm missing the bigger lip on the back of the boot heal like the Airpower R2 it made it more convenient to get out of in a hurry.

Very good boot, just one flaw for me

Honestly, one of the best boots I’ve tried. Super comfortable and durable. Only problem I ran into was the zipper getting caught on the leather on the backside of the zipper, and during a emergency like having to jump into turnouts, this is problematic. I hadn’t had the problem while going out to a call yet, but a couple time before and after shift.

Great Boots

This is my 4th pair of Airpower boots, each of which has lasted 2-3 years (I put a lot of miles on them). Over this time, each new pair has had numerous incremental improvements over the previous ones, so that I'm happier with this pair than I was with my first. Great grip on the soles, great protection from everything at wrecks, comfortable, and quick to get on and off. I see others are complaining of difficulty with the zipper but it only takes a little adjustment of the laces to solve that problem.

Very nice boots, but didn't work for me

I am a firefighter / paramedic and tend to be very hard on boots. I usually get less than 1 year out of boots, so I decided to give these a try due to recommendations from coworkers who have been able to wear Haix boots for 3+ years. I really like the style of the boots, and can tell that they are well made. My only complaint, which caused me to return them, was the seam where the toe cap meets the leather inside the boots rubbed uncomfortably on my toe. I ended up trying a 13, 13.5, and 13.5w all with the same issue. (I normally wear a 13) I would recommend these to anyone as long as they fit well. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me.

Not so great

I heard rants and raves about these boots so tried them out and all I have to say is I'll never own again. The zipper on the front makes it difficult to unzip and zip back up because of all the access leather by them, I can't get the laces right enough to feel good on my foot, the boots squeak like crazy and it's annoying, 13.5 which normally wear feels like 14.5 or 15, the safety toe bends so much feels like it's about to cut my toes off. On the other hand very durable and are holding up to where I have been with them so far

Only 1 gripe

As others have said these are great boots, comfy, warm, they have the safety toe but if you’re in the fire service they’re not the fastest boots to get off, at least for me. Being a rookie trying to make that 60 second time to get into your bunker gear when starting with these boots on takes practice. For me I have to straighten out my foot one at a time because the bend from my leg to my foot i can’t get the zipper all the way down very fast and then taking off the boots, again probably because I’m new, isn’t the fastest. Everything else about these boots is awesome, so if you don’t have to worry about gear times then these boots rock, they’re plenty comfy straight out of the box, I love the design where you tie the laces to your liking and then zip up the front makes it super easy putting on the boots, they’re sturdy and durable no complaints really

Amazing.

Solid boot so far, but it’s only been a few weeks. These are head and shoulders more comfortable than my old Hugo Boss boots. No complaints about the zipper, which I’ve seen in other reviews. I’ve worn these things for 12 hours with minimal discomfort. I’m almost looking forward to holding the wall for hours :)

Ok Just a few issues

I have had these boots for about 4 months, I wear them every day Mon-Fri for 12 hours a day. The first problem was the zippers, which is Obviously an issue, this was fixed by a pair of scissors cutting the extra leather from behind the zippers. The second issue is the insole, it has minimal padding or support and has bumps in weird places for my feet, Problem solved with a good pair of insoles, 3rd issue is my big toes rub on the inner part of the toe cup I adjust my foot and it seems to be better. I bought these because many of my co-workers had them and love them. I will keep them and swap off with my Danner Acadia's which are the most comfortable boots I have had in my 34 years in EMS. These have more certifications and bells and whistles, but still not #1 yet.

Great Boot but the zippers are not so great

The boots are probably the most comfortable and stable boots that I've worn in my Fire/EMS career. Clean up great and are definitely slip resistant. The only problem that I've been able to find so far is the zippers bound up a couple times but then after a month of wear the left zipper broke. There is definitely room for improvement on the zippers. Aside from that, no doubt I will continue to wear these in the future and plan to expand with other offerings from the company.

Completely unusable boots.

Usually I would start a review by listing all of the benefits of the boots. Though; they have a single fatal flaw that renders these boots completely unusable. THE EXCESS LEATHER BINDS UP THE ZIPPER AND RENDERS YOU UNABLE TO REMOVE THE BOOT. Normally I would discount this as a defect but after having read the reviews more in depth, this is an extremely common problem with these boots. The boots themselves look nice and feel fairly comfortable on the feet. Before you buy these boots, I strongly recommend that you consider how much time you are willing to waste donning and doffing these boots. If you need a pair of boots that take you less than 15 minutes to peel off then these are not the boots for you. The quality of leather and stitching on these boots are good; the materials used are excellent overall. In addition to the zipper problems rendering these boots completely useless, the lace holes on the zipper tab are unevenly placed. But, my favourite part about these boots is that the zipper tab is secured to the boot by highly visible 3¢ zip ties. Overall, I am very disappointed with these boots, especially for the price. If you are spending $280 on a pair of boots, you shouldn't have to take a 50/50 chance that you cannot get the boots off you feet because the zipper binds up. I have owned many pairs of 5.11, Blauer and Danner boots and will honestly say that these boots are by far the most frustrating and disappointing boots that I've ever owned. So please HAIX fix this massive zipper problem and stop sending your highly paying customers subpar boots.

So comfortable

2nd pair I've owned. Had the last ones for 10+ years. Love the comfort and fit. My department buys our boots but not this brand and style. Coughed up the money out of pocket because I love them so much. Would give a 10 but, super unhappy with the zippers. Both continually got stuck in the leather underneath. Sometimes you have to get you boots OFF fast too. Actually had to cut excess leather out of the zipper assembly after fighting my boots to get them off and change into turnout gear.

Like them so much I had them resoled

Most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I've had my XR-1s for 9 years and they fit as well today as the day I bought them. No problem wearing them on 24hr shifts. I'd consider buying a new pair but resoling has kept them like new.

Great boots

My EMT son loves these boots. I only gave it an 9 instead of a 10 because they came with a damaged tongue/zipper. Apparently they got a bad shipment in and ours was in that batch. Haix quickly sent us a new tongue, which we put in, with some difficulty. Their customer service is excellent and we've had no problems with the zipper since. My son says they're very comfortable.

Simply Amazing

So I just want to say a quick thank you Haix! These boots are absolutely AMAZING!! They fit perfectly right out of the box with no problems what so ever. I was very impressed with how they looked, fit, and operated! The cost is up there I will admit but so worth the money! I would buy these boots over and over again! I would also recommend these pair to anyone who can afford them! Thanks again HAIX for your awesome quality products!

Amazing boot and customer support!

I wore this boots at work the day they arrived, very comfortable and my feet did not hurt at all that night or the next day! I had dumb luck with the zipper catching on the leather of the right boot, customer service took care of it in no time. The customer service representative was very nice and now I have a replacement zipper being shipped to me, wonderful service in a timely manner!! I will definitely be recommending these boots to my coworkers. Great job Haix!!!!

great boots, some flaws

Have had these boots for about a month now. I work Fire/EMS and they have been very comfortable and are made very well. love how easy they are to shine. only complaint is that the top zippers seem to get caught on the fabric under the zipper when un zipping very often which means you have to either zip them back up then down again or pull the fabric piece out of the zipper which is annoying when trying to quickly take them off to switch into bunker gear.

overall i am very happy with them and will DEFINITELY be buying more pairs of HAIX in the future

You get what you pay for!

Do yourself a favor and fork over the extra money for these, if you're on the fence bite the bullet, you won't be disappointed. I have literally been wearing these since day 1, all day every day. No break-in period, lightweight, incredibly comfortable, craftsmanship is on point. absolutely zero complaints. Spend the time and get the laces just right and never worry about them again. I understand all the hype over these boots now and will be a customer for life!

Awesome boots!

Like most have mentioned. These boots are comfy right outta the box. Slip on easily when you're on your way to a call and paired with good soles, you won't have any issues staying in them for the day. Only issue is that mine still squeak from the leather or whatever it is.

So good I bought 2 pair!

The first pair of boots I bought were the XR1s. Using them for grass/brush fires I found out how comfortable they were, so I got a pair of XR2s for station wear. Great boots. You will not be disappointed.

Well engineered and comfortable

I bought these boots from HaixUSA.com without ever trying a pair on which is something that is outside of my comfort zone. I've read numerous reviews and spoke to some people who have worn them. The only negative review that I ever heard was from a coworker who had problems with fallen arches and flat feet and that was resolved with an aftermarket insole. Now for my personal review and opinion; I've worn these boots for 12 hour shifts and have nothing but great things to say about the comfort, quality and overall design and appearance. They fit perfectly right out of the box. They seemed somewhat stiff the first couple of days but were by no means uncomfortable. After 3 or 4 shifts, they feel perfect. The composite toe provides protection without adding weight. I don't like the steel toe boots because of the added weight and the fact that they stay really cold in the winter and require thicker socks to keep your feet warm. These boots are also true to size. I normally wear a size 9.5 medium and ordered these boots in the same size and they fit perfectly. They take a polish and shine very well and I have not had any problems with them being weatherproof as I have used them in rain and snow and have always had warm, dry feet which is something that I can't say about other brands that I've worn (5.11 and Bates). They are not the cheapest boots around, however, you should consider how much time you spend on your feet and the level of comfort and protection some of the others provide. I signed up for the email newsletters and got a 15% discount code along with free FedEx Ground shipping. I had the boots on my feet less than a week after ordering them. The soles are quiet and do not squeak and provide solid traction on snow, ice and wet, slippery floors. I've had many complements on them and the only "negative" things I've heard from coworkers is the price. My response to them is that you just can't beat German engineering. Thank you for making a quality product!

Great Boot, but

I love these boots so much that I bought a second pair to rotate them daily. They came out of the box comfortable. Flat out fantastic boots. Only one problem. The zipper on the right boot on both pair, bind up in the leather backing every time I unzip them. I have no idea why. It took me ten minutes one day to get the boot off. Again I have absolutely no idea why.

Comfort right out of the box

I purchased these boots without ever trying them on, a behavior I don't like. I am a size 13 medium and wanted a zipper boot. I was able to get many years out of a Red Wing boot which I had to install the zipper myself. I was never able to get a secure tight fit.
Anyhow, I needed a boot that already had the zipper in it. I wear my Airpower XR2's ten to 12 hours at a time. My feet do not sweat. The duty boots were comfortable from day one! I did not have to make any adjustments. I am not sure I would be able to figure out to tighten the boots if needed though. Haix includes a helpful packet that explains the boot tightening procedure along with other helpful information regarding the boot and it's maintenance.
Overall, I have only had the boot a short time. I am very pleased so far.

Great boots

This is the second pair of boots I've bought. My first pair was in 2008 and still have another 2 years or more, and haven't been rebuilt. I wore them 20 or more days a month as a Firefighter/ Paramedic on a 24/48 shift. They show wear but I can shine them and they'll look brand new. This is one of the best pairs of boots I've ever owned. My girlfriend and daughter both have a pair for work. I love these and will probably never buy any other boots for working in EMS. Maybe this pair can get me to retirement. LOL I'm going to find out. GREAT BOOTS. Thank you Haix.
